Comprehensive Skin Checks

A skin check involves a systematic examination of the skin for lesions that may require closer assessment.

Depending on your circumstances, this may include:

  • Review of your skin cancer and medical history
  • Assessment of individual skin cancer risk factors
  • Examination of the skin
  • Dermoscopic assessment of appropriate lesions
  • Identification of lesions requiring monitoring
  • Discussion of suspicious or changing lesions
  • Recommendations for further investigation where clinically appropriate

We encourage patients to tell us about any spot that is new, changing, unusual, symptomatic or concerning.

Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy allows skin lesions to be examined using magnification and specialised lighting, revealing structures that cannot always be seen with the naked eye.

It is an important part of the assessment of pigmented and non-pigmented skin lesions and assists clinicians in determining whether a lesion should be monitored, investigated or treated.
